GARRATT RESEARCH GROUP
FORMER TEAM MEMBERS
On to bigger and better
Professorial Assistant 2019 - 2021
Mr. Bensman developed multiple software tools for group during his time with us. This includes: curvature analysis for XRC mapping data, operation and measurement interface for our quantitative birefringence instrument, and a database filtering tool for our diamond database. More information can be made available on request.

NOELLE KURIAN
Professorial Assistant 2019 - 2020
Ms. Kurian worked in close collaboration between our group and Fraunhofer USA to run experiments and analyze data for diamond-based Covid-19 sensing technology. She developed automated routines to analyze grain structures of diamond using AFM and image analysis software.

Fraunhofer Intern 2019 - 2021
Mr. Farris was primarily responsible for the development, testing, and operation of the quantitative birefringence instrument for our lab, including both hardware and software development. The data processing and analysis software developed processes multiple polarized images of diamond samples using Mueller matrix calculus to produce strain maps, orientation maps, and descriptive statistics on data distributions for a single diamond sample. This tool currently collects data in support of multiple STTR projects with Great Lakes Crystal Technologies in addition to graduate student research and government funded projects. He is now a graduate student at the University of Michigan.
